IGCSE Grade 8 Maths Find the area of triangles and quadrilaterals
|
First, we find the area of the larger triangle and then the area of the smaller triangle and then we take away the area of the smaller triangle from the larger triangle to get the area of the shaded region. Use area = \\( {1 \\over 2}\\) x base x height.
Recall the formula of area of triangle
Here, the area of the shaded region is the area of the rectangle - the area of the triangle. First, find the area of the rectangle and then find the area of the triangle then subtract the area of the triangle from the area of the rectangle.
Follow BIDMAS steps to solve the questions
To find the area of a triangle, we multiply the length of the base by the height and divide by 2.
To find the area of a rhombus, we can use the formula:
Area = (d1 * d2) / 2
We know that the area of a square is side x side.
Area of unshaded region = total area - the area of the shaded region Total area = length x breadth and the area shaded is \\( {1 \\over 2}\\) x base x height here base is 12m and height is 8m.
To find the area of a parallelogram, we multiply the length of the base by the height.
We know that area of the trapezium is \\( {1 \\over 2}\\) x height x ( base1 + base2). Here base1 is 14cm and base2 is 8 cm and the height is 10 cm.
