IGCSE Grade 10 Science Reflection by plane mirrors
|
The image is left-right inverted.
Use 90degrees - 60 degrees
When an object fall on a plane mirror, they get reflected from the mirror. After reflection, they never meet at any point in real but they appear to meet at some point. So, the image formed by a plane mirror cannot be obtained on a screen. So, we say that the image formed by a plane mirror is always virtual in nature.
Use formula, \\(\\frac {360} θ -1\\)
When you look into a plane mirror, your image appears to be standing on the other side of the mirror, as if you were looking at a real person standing behind a transparent wall.
The distance of the object will be same behind the mirror as the image is in front.
We see an object due to reflection of light.
Kaleidoscope is an instrument which consists of a tube that holds mirrors and pieces of coloured papers and glitters. a plane mirror is used here.
Consider the image formed by a plane mirror.
When two mirrors arranged at a 0-degree angle - parallel to each other. There would be an infinite number of images and when the mirrors are adjusted to a 30-degree angle, the mirrors would create 5 images of objects placed between the mirrors. Now if angle is increased and are adjusted to a 180-degree angle to form a single plane. At that angle, only one image would be formed. As the angle is increased, the number of images decreases.
