Since Covid-19 pandemic education has changed dramatically. The extended screentime has a harmful physical and physiological effect on the children’s health. Online classes on the computer, on the phone, or on a tablet, mean less physical movement. The pandemic has forced schools and education institutions to shift online. The light emitted from the screen can impair quality sleep, eyesight issues, and physical well-being has completely vanished.

Online Classes may develop a sense of isolation in children. So, it is important to consider your child’s physical and mental health during online classes. In online classes, students connect with their teachers. Although, the critical challenge of the student are the issues related to health, especially eyes and overall body movement.

Online classes lead to restrictions on such physical movements. The extreme responsibility lies with the parents and teacher.

Here are some tips for taking care of yourself while taking online classes

1. Morning exercises

Exercising in the morning is more effective in burning excess fat and calories. Children who participate in physical activity improve their metabolism and their mental health. Students participating in morning exercises displayed more readiness to learn.

2. Dance on your favorite playlist

Dancing to your favorite song makes a body feel happy, calm, and optimistic. Like other physical activities releases endorphins (also called happy hormones), which help to reduce stress, strengthen muscles, increase flexibility and increase cognitive development.

3. Limit screentime before bedtime and get plenty of sleep

Since Covid-19, our lifestyle has changed tremendously and fortunately, our lives continue virtually. But excess screentime makes it more difficult for the students, they experience symptoms of both insomnia and depression and reduce sleep quality. Most of the students, spend their time indoors and stay up late in the temptation to surf the web, check social media, play games, and even text, adding exposure to artificial light. That eventually leads to difficulty in falling asleep and sleep deprivation which increases the risk of health problems.

5. Eat healthy food

Better health starts with healthy eating. While taking online classes, it is easier for children to have unhealthy snacks in between classes, instead of having healthy meals. Healthy food help to concentrate and do better in studies. Encourage your child to prefer vegetables and fruits over chips or frozen food, replace sugary drinks with fresh fruit juice or water.

6. Drink lots of water

It is very important to stay hydrated. Water helps to improve brain health, keep our body energized, reduce stress, also increase the ability to focus and concentrate better. Always remind your child to drink water consistently.

7. Remember to take breaks

Instead of using a mobile phone find activities that allow your child to move their body or laugh that will actually help in re-energizing and re-focus. If you want your child to study well, make sure your child takes a break and has some fun in between studies. This could be a bit stress-less for the child. Taking purposeful breaks in between studies to refresh your brain increases productivity and the ability to focus.

9. Exposure to natural light

A proper study space plays important role in your learning. Make sure it should be comfortable, noiseless, well-lighted. Eye strain can occur if your child reads or learns in dim light. Set up a study space where your child can get natural light because natural light is healthy physically and emotionally. Setting up an effective learning space will work great for your children.
